The Disability Resource Centre
The Disability Resource Centre, an independent charity supporting people of all ages affected by disability or health conditions, needed a website that genuinely served their community. We designed an accessible, easy-to-navigate site built around WCAG guidelines, giving the DRC team full control through a CMS and a thorough training session.
The starting point
and the problem.
The Disability Resource Centre exists to help people affected by disabilities or health conditions achieve their full potential. That mission demands a website that works for everyone, including those with visual, motor, or cognitive impairments. Their existing digital presence wasn't meeting that standard.
As an independent charity, the DRC also needed a site they could manage and update themselves, without ongoing cost or reliance on external support. The website needed to clearly present their full range of services, including support groups, training sessions, and advocacy, while remaining genuinely inclusive for all users.
How we made
it happen.
Accessibility was the defining principle of the entire design process. We built the site in accordance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), ensuring it worked properly for users of all abilities. The design was clean and clear, with an intuitive layout that made it straightforward to find information about services, resources, and upcoming events.
The site was built on a content management system, giving DRC staff the ability to update pages, add new resources, and post upcoming events without any technical knowledge required. Services were organised into clearly navigable sections, covering support groups, training, and advocacy in a structure that made sense for the people using it.
We closed the project with an hour of detailed training, covering content creation, page editing, and basic troubleshooting, so the team felt confident managing the site from day one.
What we
delivered.
- 01Accessible design built to WCAG guidelines for all users
- 02Clear sections covering support groups, training, and advocacy services
- 03CMS for updating content, resources, and upcoming events
- 04One hour of staff training covering all aspects of site management
- 05Responsive build across all screen sizes and devices
- 06Google Analytics set up to track visitor activity
The Disability Resource Centre now has a website that works for their whole community. Visitors can find what they need quickly, and the accessible design means the site genuinely serves everyone it's meant to reach.
The CMS and training together ensure the DRC team can keep their content current and relevant without any ongoing external support.
